The yardage total was the most in an opener since the 561 compiled in 1992 during a 42-7 victory against Northwestern in Chicago's Soldier Field. 270 Games it took Brian Kelly to win his 200th contest as a college head coach after defeating Temple Aug. 31 to improve to 200-68-2. There are only four coaches who reached it in a fewer amount of games: Penn State's Joe Paterno in 246 (200-44-2), Nebraska's Tom Osborne in 249 (200-46-3), Michigan's Bo Schembechler in 262 (200-55-7) and Ohio State's Woody Hayes in 268 (200-60-8). photo by joe raymond
