Arizona State detonated with 612
yards total offense (261 rushing), but
the leading rusher was quarterback
Taylor Kelly with four carries for 79
yards, highlighted by a 40-yard run.
Even after that lapse, USC was still
yielding only 99.6 yards per game and
3.5 yards per carry.
If the Irish can't match last year's
rushing total against USC, then they
must do at least much better than their
previous failures with the run at home
against the Trojans.
For The Record
USC will attempt to become the second team in history to win at Notre
Dame Stadium in six consecutive trips
to the venue.
The Michigan State Spartans
achieved the feat relatively recently:
1997 (23-7), 1999 (23-13), 2001 (17-10),
2003 (22-16), 2005 (41-38 in overtime)
and 2007 (31-14). The streak finally
ended with a 33-30 Irish victory in 2009.
Now, the Trojans will be entering with
a five-game winning streak at Notre
