Ever since stepping foot on Grounds, Harris
has made Bennett look pretty smart.
As a first-year, Harris averaged 10.4 points,
4.4 rebounds and 29.4 minutes per game. He
made 41.8 percent of his shots from the field and
41.7 percent from three-point range — the best
by an ACC freshman since 2000 — and shot 75.9
percent from the free throw line.
As a second-year, Harris played with a broken
hand during the latter stages of the season but
still managed to average 11.3 points and 3.9
rebounds to help lead Virginia to its first NCAA
Tournament since 2007.
Last season, Harris put any lingering doubts

about his skills to rest when he averaged a career-high 16.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest. He ranked fourth in the ACC in
scoring and three-point shooting accuracy (42.5
percent) and fifth in made three-point field goals
per game (2.2).
At season's end, he was named to the All-ACC
first team by both the ACC coaches and Atlantic
Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).
Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski spoke
glowingly of Harris.
"Harris is really one of the better players in
the country. He's a warrior. He reminds me of
[Kyle] Singler — as far as their toughness," said
