laugh, and that's what I like to do. I just like to be a friendly, cool guy now. When you go out and be yourself, just be one those guys, you can just be a role model to kids, or just put a smile on somebody's face, you can just give them a hug, a high five." On Nov. 23, Nix's unique journey culminated in a midfield senior day celebration with his mother and father, the latter of which had never before traveled to South Bend. Although the moment was not quite what Nix had planned with the injury holding him out of his final contest at Notre Dame Stadium, it still marked the senior's achievements of the past four years. "We're just ecstatic," said Nix, who will graduate in December with a degree in film, television and theatre. "I'm happy for them because they get something special to share with me at this great university. They know attending Notre Dame turned my life around. I had a lot growing up, a lot of issues, a lot of things that could've happened to me but didn't. I chose to come here, and it's changed my life for the best. That's a special moment for the whole family." With a diploma in hand come December but one more season of eligibility available to exhaust, the projected top-10 NFL Draft pick has a difficult decision to make in the coming weeks, but it's one he claims he has not had the time to consider to this point. "It's still a big decision now," said Nix when asked if the injury makes it easier to declare for the NFL Draft. "I haven't thought about it. I'm just thinking of getting healthy, getting my rehab, finishing my season of 'Breaking Bad.' And just cheering on my team. "I don't know what to consider.
