know if there's much you can take away. We made a lot of mistakes. I don't know if I would consider this our best ball, this particular game. "There are no moral victories, nothing positive we're looking to take from a loss." Notre Dame fifth-year senior linebacker Dan Fox … On compiling a career-high 15 tackles: "I just feel like I'm more comfortable in my game. I feel really healthy. That's the biggest thing, and my body feels good. "It felt like I was clicking." On Stanford running back Tyler Gaffney's big game: "The blocking out front for him was good. They had some pretty solid blockers, and sometimes it felt like I was stuck on some blockers. "They did a good job." Stanford head coach David Shaw … On Notre Dame's defense: "They're really good up front. Stephon Tuitt is one of the three top defensive linemen in the nation. He's phenomenal. The best defensive lineman in the nation [Louis Nix III] didn't play tonight. They're really good up front. "We knew we had to keep pounding. We knew they were going to come back. They're that good of a football team." On the thought or resting players with a Pac-12 championship berth already in hand: "I would love to see the look on my seniors' faces if I said I wanted to rest them for next week. If you could imagine asking Shayne Skov to rest against Notre Dame, I'd have to ask and get out of the way. "These guys wanted to end the season right at home and be undefeated at home, and they did that." On running back Tyler Gaffney: "That last run might have been his best run ever. That last run, there wasn't a big hole. He squeaked through it. There was a guy after the hole. He took that guy for a ride. I can't say enough about him. "Every time I look at him, thank goodness he didn't stay with baseball." Stanford senior running back Tyler Gaffney … On beating Notre Dame: "They're big. They're strong. They're physical. We match up. That's exactly how we play. "We took it to them and were fortunate enough to come up on top." Stanford senior safety Ed Reynolds … On Irish quarterback Tommy Rees: "I think he's a little underrated. I think he's a very good quarterback, a smart quarterback. We were giving him a bunch of different looks up front, whether it was with out blitz package or our coverages. "He would go and make up checks. It was kind of like a chess match out there. He's a great competitor."
