michigan hockey over the holiday break, recording five assists and a plus/minus of plus-3 in five contests while serving as an alternate captain. He returned to Michigan in time for its series at Wisconsin Jan. 10‑11 and was ener‑ gized to take on a critical role. "Going into Big Ten play and play‑ ing in a big-time environment like Wisconsin was something I was look‑ ing forward to," he said. "There was a sense of urgency that we needed to get back on the right track." Michigan netted only three goals in being swept by the Badgers. Copp had one of them, and saw a second marker disallowed. Even though he was credited with hockey Notebook No. 1 Goalie • Since returning from injury in mid-November, sophomore goalie Steve Racine had started three of Michigan's eight games from Nov. 15-Dec. 28, essentially rotating every weekend series with rookie Zach Nagelvoort while Nagelvoort earned an additional pair of starts in midweek games. However, that back-and-forth came to an end Jan. 10-11 in Madison when Nagelvoort started both games against Wisconsin. "We're not that good where we can just outplay and outscore another team with opponents like that." Berenson said Nagelvoort's back-to-back assignments do not indicate he has decided on a No. 1 goalie. "Nothing is set in stone," Berenson said. On The Mend • Freshman defenseman Kevin Lohan has missed each of the last 11 games after suffering a knee injury against Michigan Tech Nov. 1. At the time, Berenson said the rookie was expected to miss three months. Michigan is halfway through that third month. "He's doing good," Berenson said. "It's just a matter of the calendar, when the doctors say he's OK to go."
