The NHL CARL HAGELIN NOTCHES HIS FIRST CAREER HAT TRICK Former Michigan icer Carl Hage- lin, fresh off earning a silver medal for Sweden in the Winter Olympic Games, notched his first career hat trick March 14, and it came at the expense of another former Wolverine — Winnipeg goaltender Al Montoya. Hagelin scored two goals on Mon- toya, his second with less than eight seconds remaining in the second pe- riod, to lead the 4-2 win. "It feels good," Hagelin told News- day.com. "I've never had one before, not even in college." Hagelin put his first goal past goalie Ondrej Pavelec at 1:15 of the first period. Pavelec would later leave due to a reported injury and the Jets tied it 2-2, but Hagelin scored twice more to ice it. "They did a good job coming at us hard, very aggressive," Hagelin said.
