INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Men's gymnastics senior Sam Mikulak is back competing in the all-around for U-M, in time for the postseason push. Mikulak, a two-time NCAA all-around cham- pion (2011 and 2013), competed in the World Artistic Championships Oct. 3-6, where he earned sixth place in the all-around, and the AT&T Ameri- can Cup March 1, where he won the all-around title. The Wolverine: What was the ex- perience like of competing at Worlds and the American Cup? Mikulak: "It was very rewarding to compete on such a high level, and winning the American Cup adds to my résumé. I am getting more and more experience and working in more high-pressure situations to learn how to master handling the pressure with such a big crowd watching you." The Wolverine: What would it mean to you to win your third NCAA title in the all-around? Mikulak: "That is the end-all goal. You go out there, hit your sets and the better man wins. All I can do is train my best from here on out to be as prepared as possible for that com- petition." The Wolverine: The NCAAs are a home meet for you this year (April 10-12 in Ann Arbor). What will that be like? Mikulak: "To go out with one last extremely big bang is amazing. No one gets an opportunity to compete in the final competition, the NCAA Championships, at home. It means so much that the university was able to get this for our class. I feel very honored to be a part of it."
