  MICHIGAN BASKETBALL • Beilein earned his fourth league championship and third outright title. His Canisius squad won the 1994 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference crown, while his Richmond team captured the 2001 Colonial Athletic Association title. The other two have occurred in the past three years at Michigan. • The Wolverines tied the school record with 16 three-pointers in burying the Il- lini. They shot 69.6 percent (16 of 23) from beyond the arc, a season best. Stauskas led the long-range barrage with a career-high seven three-pointers. • Michigan's 84 points and 31-point victory margin both represented season highs for the Wolverines. U-M also moved to 28-0 under Beilein when scoring at least 80 points. • Illinois held four opponents leading up to the Michigan game to fewer than 50 points. The Wolverines scored 52 in the first half — a season high —- on the way to clinching the championship. • Walk-on Sean Lonergan notched his first field goal in Big Ten play at Illinois. • Michigan's 84-80 win over Indiana March 8 gave the Wolverines a record of 23-7 overall and 15-3 in the Big Ten. U-M beat every confer- ence school at least once during the season — the first time that happened since the 1992 campaign, when the Wolverines also posted 15 league wins. • The Wolverines notched a season-high 26 free throw makes against Indiana, going 23 of 24 in the second half. • U-M scored 84 points for the second straight game, tying the season high it established at Il- linois in the previous contest. Beilein's crew also bumped the record to 29-0 when scoring at least 80 in his tenure as coach. • Michigan's 64-63 win over Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis March 14 marked the Wolverines' first-ever win as the No. 1 seed in the tourna- ment. Michigan moved its all-time tournament record to 14-15, including 7-6 under Beilein. • The win over Illinois gave the Wolverines six straight victories — their longest streak of the season. It boosted their record to 78-85 in the all-time series versus the Illini, and 2-2 in the Big Ten Tournament. U-M has now won seven straight games against Illinois. • Michigan's 72-69 win over Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament March 15 gave the Wolverines their first win over the Buckeyes in the league tourney, following six straight losses. U-M has won three in a row overall against OSU and is 76-98 in the all-time series. LONERGAN
