UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Erin Boxberger — Rowing Notre Dame's medal count in international competition jumped this summer thanks to senior Erin Boxberger and her former college teammate, Molly Bruggeman. That duo was in the United States' four- and eight-women crews that won gold at the World Rowing U-23 Championships in Varese, Italy, during the final weekend of July. Boxberger, a two-time All-American and an All-ACC pick this past spring, also won a gold medal at the 2013 U-23 Championships. Nick Koshansky — Lacrosse The New York native competed for Russia in this summer's FIL World Championships. Koshansky started in a 5-2 win over Ar- gentina, and played in losses to Wales and New Zealand. The sophomore midfielder didn't play for the Irish as a rookie. He was one of four players with Notre Dame ties who participated in the international tournament. Jim Morrison ('05) and Dan Scolaro ('08) coached the Norwegian team, and David Earl ('11) helped Canada win the title. Ashley Armstrong — Golf The two-time Capital One All-American added a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar trophy to her résumé this summer. Armstrong and junior Talia Campbell both made the cut, which requires each golfer to have at least a 3.5 GPA. Armstrong had four rounds where she shot at or under par as a junior. She averaged 75.59 strokes per round and is one of two seniors returning on this year's roster. Frank Dyer — Swimming The senior became the first Irish swimmer to win multiple first- team Scholar All-American honors. To be eligible, students must uphold a 3.5 or better GPA and compete in a national championship meet. Dyer finished fifth in the 200 freestyle at the NCAA Champion- ships in March. Sophomore diver Joe Cuomos also won the Scholar All-American award, becoming just the third man in Irish program history to make that list. TOP OF THE CLASS
