ises to rotate more players on the field
than it did under former coordinator
Bob Diaco.
As many as six true freshmen could
get a chance to play impactful min-
utes this season in the front seven.
Along with Trumbetti, who Kelly said
won a starting job after enrolling early
in January, the head coach singled out
four rookies he thinks will contrib-
ute often. Jhonny Williams, Jonathon
Bonner, Kolin Hill and Daniel Cage
are all expected to help the pass rush.
"Those four guys have shown an
ability to pass rush on third downs.
They're not probably going to be ev-
ery-down players, but they can come
off the edge for us," Kelly said.
Nyles Morgan, the most celebrated
recruit to sign in February, has also
worked his way into the two-deep
during August. Kelly said Morgan
has been "overwhelmed" by the re-
sponsibility of running the defense
from that spot, but he's also shown
the ability to be a playmaker.
If Morgan gets on the field, he's
likely to be flanked by two sopho-
mores at the linebacker position.
Jaylon Smith is not a typical second-
Junior tackle Sheldon Day — who has eight career starts to his credit — will be asked to lead the way for a
youth-laden defensive front.
