UNDER THE DOME "T's a special guy. He's patient, but when he hits that hole, it's full throttle. He can jump up on some- body and then just take off running. He's definitely a special back. … It's his vision. He'll see a hole that we don't think is there, and next thing you know he's hitting it and he's gone." — Junior defensive line- man Sheldon Day on why the entire team gets excited when watching film of Irish sophomore running back Tarean Folston "I think they're probably equally as excited to have Notre Dame on their schedule. We're looking for those high-profile programs throughout the country. We've added Georgia, we've added Texas. We continue to look at the kind of programs that have that national appeal, and certainly Ohio State has that as well." — Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly on adding Ohio State to the Irish schedule in 2022-23 "Academic issues with student-athletes are not new, even at Notre Dame. So how can you suggest the Fighting Irish are no longer the gold standard — especially given the suspensions of several player who violated rules over the past few years, including quarterback Everett Golson in 2013 for poor academic judgment?"— Kerry Walsh in a letter published in Sports Illustrated's "Inbox" "National pundits are beginning to look at Michigan as a regional program. They don't respect Michi- gan. They [Ohio State and Notre Dame] not only don't respect them, but they kind of don't like them. So that might be one way of them saying, 'We don't need you.'" — Former Michigan running back Stan Edwards, whose son Braylon starred as a wide receiver for the Wolverines (The Detroit News) TWEET OF THE MONTH @MGolicJR57: "Going bald to support my friend and former captain in his fight against cancer! @KMcCarthy28 #FightingBackwithKMac" Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Mike Golic (2008-12) supporting former Irish safety and current defensive graduate assistant Kyle McCarthy NOTRE DAME TO PLAY OHIO STATE IN 2022-23 So much for the theory that Notre Dame dropped the University of Michigan to soften its football schedule. Notre Dame and Ohio State have agreed to a two-year, home-and-home football series in 2022-23. The two will play Sept. 3, 2022, at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, and Sept. 23, 2023, at Notre Dame Stadium. Notre Dame already has added Texas to the slate. It will open next season by hosting the Longhorns Sept. 5, and then begins the 2016 campaign with a Sept. 3 outing in Austin. The two are also scheduled to meet in 2019-20. Earlier this year, athletics director Jack Swarbrick announced that Notre Dame will host Georgia on Sept. 9, 2017, with the return match in Athens, Ga., on Sept. 21, 2019.
