DEFENSE RECORDS HISTORIC SHUTOUT Led by a dominant defensive effort, Notre Dame's 31-0 victory over Michi- gan served as an exclamation point in the final chapter of the programs' rivalry. Playing without three players who were expected to start at the begin- ning of fall camp — fifth-year senior safety Austin Collinsworth was side- lined with a strained MCL, while the academic fraud investigation held out junior cornerback KeiVarae Russell and senior defensive end Ishaq Wil- liams — the Irish recorded their first shutout of the Wolverines in their 42- game history.
