Throwing the football, Golson spread the wealth among Notre Dame's offense by connecting with seven separate receivers. Sophomore wideout Will Fuller led the way with a career-high nine receptions for 89 yards and a score. In 2013, Fuller caught six passes the entire season. "I just got to take advantage of my opportunity," Fuller said. "I'm happy I got this opportunity to play and to start. "I had an early drop. That touch- down really got me going." Senior running back turned slot receiver Amir Carlisle also made the most of his opportunity under the lights. A year ago, the former USC transfer struggled with catching passes out of the backfield, includ- ing screens and receptions in the flat. The Irish defense contained Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner and held the Wolverines scoreless for the first time in their 42 meetings. PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL
