The 5-10 Mabrey led Manasquan High to the Group 2 New Jersey state title and is the younger sister of current Irish junior guard Michaela Mabrey. She is rated No. 11 overall by All-Star Girls and No. 26 on ESPNHoopGurlz. Notre Dame heavily recruited the na- tion's top two 2015 prospects, 6-3 Katie Samuelson from Mater Dei in Califor- nia and 5-10 Asia Durr from Saint Pius X High in Georgia. Samuelson com- mitted to Connecticut, while Durr is headed to Louisville. ✦ Irish Roundup MEN'S GOLF Notre Dame finished 11th out of 15 teams at the Windon Memorial Classic Sept. 21-22 in Skokie, Ill. The Irish finished 36 strokes behind tournament winner California. Sophomore Matthew Rushton led the way individually, shooting a two-over-par 212 to place 14th. WOMEN'S GOLF The Irish opened their season with a first-place finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational Sept. 13-14 in East Lansing, Mich. Notre Dame posted a three-day score of 913 (309-297-307) to edge second-place Michigan State by four strokes. Junior Talia Campbell was the top Irish performer, carding a 225 to place fourth individually. In addition, senior Ashley Armstrong shot a 228 to finish in ninth place. MEN'S SOCCER (3-1-2, 1-0-1 ACC) Notre Dame opened its ACC title defense with a 1-0 victory over No. 20 Syracuse Sept. 13, thanks to a Brandon Aubrey goal in the 75th minute. The sophomore defender's tally marked the first of his career. On Sept. 21, the No. 4 Irish went on the road and tied No. 5 Virginia 1-1. Junior midfielder Patrick Hodan notched Notre Dame's lone goal. WOMEN'S SOCCER (5-3-1, 0-1-0 ACC) Notre Dame squeaked out one-goal victories over Baylor (1-0) Sept. 12 and Toledo (2-1) Sept. 14, before beginning ACC play. On Sept. 20, No. 8 North Carolina stormed back from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Irish 3-2 in double overtime. Notre Dame had not lost after leading 2-0 in its history, winning 351 such matches while drawing one. The Tar Heels needed a 101st-minute tally to steal the victory at Alumni Stadium. VOLLEYBALL (3-8) Notre Dame notched its first win of the season by topping Northeastern 3-1 Sept. 13 at the Shamrock Invitational, before adding two more victories at the Purdue Active Ankle Challenge Sept. 19-20 in West Lafayette, Ind. The Irish fell at the end of each weekend, to Northern Iowa (3-1) Sept. 13 and then to No. 11 Purdue (3-0) Sept. 20.
