Brogdon, meanwhile, came into his own last
season. The 6‑5 guard bounced back from a foot
injury that necessitated a medical redshirt as well
as anybody could have hoped, averaging a team‑
high 12.7 points, along with 5.4 rebounds and 2.7
assists, per game. With the loss of Harris, Virginia
will need even more offensive production out of
Brogdon.
"I think that with Malcolm, who had such a
solid season, that he is going to be targeted this
year and there is going to be a lot of focus on
him," Bennett said. "How he deals with that will
be another step, though he had some of that at‑
tention last year, it will be another step this year.
Hopefully he'll adjust to that well."
Taking some of the pressure off of Brogdon
will be second‑year point guard London Perran‑
tes. Last season, the California native stormed on
to the scene, beating out Devon Hall and Teven
Jones for the starting job and earning ACC All‑
Freshman Team honors.
Hall, according to Bennett and strength and
conditioning coach Mike Curtis, made the best
gains of any player over the summer. The Virginia
Beach native, who was a top‑100 recruit prior to
redshirting last season, figures to step into the
rotation. At 6‑5, Hall has the ability to play any of
the perimeter spots.
Redshirt third-year forward Anthony Gill emerged as the Cavaliers' top interior scorer in 2013-14,
averaging 8.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest off the bench.
