work to stay away from fouls," Imovbioh said, "and I've gotten into the gym with my position coach and we've worked on my 15-foot jumper." Virginia will again be small down low, which Boyle indicates was another draw of the Pack- Line defense. "We're smaller and there are some things you can do out of the pack like choke and trap the post, which allows you to mitigate what a strong, big post player can do," Boyle said. "The pack isn't this aggressive defense, but there are elements of it and one of those ways is trapping the post." Two other players that will be looking for in- creased post minutes this year are Umeri, who av- eraged 18.0 minutes, 2.8 points and 2.8 boards per game in 31 contests last season, and fourth-year Sarah Beth Barnette, who averaged 7.7 minutes and 1.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest in 23 games in 2013-14. Randolph will move into the starting role this season after leading all ACC bench players in scoring (11.8 points per game) a season ago. Boyle is excited to have Randolph moving into a more vocal, leadership role on the team. "Faith did a great job embracing her role last year and she understands there's a need for her to contribute more this year and she's ready for that," the coach said. "She looks, she plays, she sounds like a junior." "Coming off the bench last year was a great op- portunity to be a spark for us and get us going, but this season I'm going be more vocal and take on more of a leadership role as a starter," Randolph said. Mason, a former Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and Parade All-American will vie for playing time at guard after starting 14 games last season and averaging 3.5 points per game. Mason is an adept ball handler and will likely see time at the point with Venson. Miami product Tiffany Su- arez appeared in 26 games and averaged 2.9 point a contest, and will challenge for playing time as well. She'll be looked upon for more production this season. With better health, a deeper club and steady veterans with some flashy youth talent, Randolph believes the Hoos are positioned well to make some noise in the ACC this season. "I think we're hungry," she said. "We're going to compete every game, we're ready to get at it on the defensive end, and that's going to make us a very successful team this year." ◆ In 23 games played a year ago, fourth-year for- ward Sarah Beth Barnette averaged 1.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per contest.
