with a 68-63 loss to Indiana in the
.rst round of the Big Ten tournament
March 4 at Ho/man Estates, Ill.
So coach Coquese Washington said
what she's been saying all along: that
this season has been one long learning
experience for a team made up of young
players, and that they'll be around for a
few more years to take advantage of all
those lessons they absorbed the hard
way.
"There's certainly a lot of learning, a
lot of lessons that we'll take away from
this season, this game, from Big Ten Con-
ference play," Washington said following
the team's .nale, in which the Hoosiers
held on a0er Penn State had trimmed
their lead to two points with a minute
le0. "We've got the majority of the team
coming back next year. So a lot of these
lessons and the growth we saw over the
course of the season is something we'll
build on."
The Lady Lions presumably have
nowhere to go but up. They .nished their
season at 6-24 and 3-15 in the Big Ten. It
was the losingest season in the program's
51-year history, and not by a little. Before
this season, Penn State's worst .nish was
11-18 in 2008-09, Washington's second
year in charge of the program. The Lady
