MICHIGAN RECRUITING 187-pounder still favors Michigan State and Tennessee — among others — over the Wolverines, but U-M is closing the gap. • Under Brady Hoke, U-M imple - mented a strict policy for commits and their official visits: no taking one to a school other than Michigan. That appears to be relaxed under Jim Har- baugh. Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan three-star safety Devin Gil plans to take official visits to Louisville and UCF in addition to his trip to Ann Arbor, and re- ports that he has the coaches' blessing. While many of the commits won't likely take advantage of that opportunity, it's one Harbaugh and his assistants appear happy to provide. • June was a big month in the world of Michigan football recruiting. The Wol- verines reeled in 14 commits during a stretch that started June 2 (Detroit Cass Tech four-star offensive guard Michael Onwenu) and ended June 25 (Camden [N.J.] four-star defensive end Ron John- son). U-M averaged 0.58 pledges per day in that stretch, which lasted just longer than three weeks. The only comparable run in the Wol- verines' recent history was Feb. 18-25, 2012, when U-M landed nine pledges in just eight days (1.1 per day).
