FOOTBALL RECRUITING
BY TIM SULLIVAN
M
ichigan's "Barbecue at The Big
House" recruiting event has be-
come an annual tradition. Surviving
through a pair of coaching changes,
the mid-summer visit date brings sev-
eral of the Wolverines' top targets to
campus for an opportunity to meet
the coaches (and each other), acquaint
themselves with Ann Arbor and, of
course, enjoy plenty of good food.
The 2014 edition of the BBQ in-
cluded a new wrinkle — an "Amaz-
ing Race" scavenger hunt — that
persisted to the 2015 edition. The
prospects had the opportunity to
compete against each other on a clue-
oriented trip through many of the
parts of town that they don't see on
a typical football visit: the academic
facilities and a glimpse at the day-to-
day life of a student-athlete.
With more than 40 prospects on the
list, the U-M staff had a chance to im-
press first-time visitors and to make
those who had been in town several
times feel as comfortable as ever.
