It heads to the State Farm Center Dec. 2 to play at Illinois in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. After the contest against the Fighting Illini, the Irish finally return to South Bend for two straight home matchups — a Dec. 8 tilt against Stony Brook and a Dec. 13 matchup against Loyola Chi‑ cago. Those two opponents may not look intimidating in name, but they ac‑ tually could present one of the bigger challenges of the Irish's non‑conference slate. Stony Brook finished last season ranked No. 127 overall nationally in Ken Pomeroy's rankings, and return all five starters from that team. Loyola Chicago, which is part of the Missouri Valley Conference, was just behind the Seawolves at No. 129 and returns four of their five starters. Should projections hold up, both could be top‑100 oppo‑ nents for Notre Dame in 2015.
