DESHONE KIZER SHINES IN LOSS Sophomore quarterback DeShone Kizer 's first experiences at Notre Dame were certainly charmed. He came off the bench to lead a fourth- quarter rally against Virginia and won his first two starts, leading an Irish offense that averaged 46.0 points per game. Clemson was sure to pose the big- gest test of his career, and the game played out exactly that way. The Tigers came into the Oct. 3 game determined to make Kizer beat them by focusing on shutting down the Irish ground at- tack and limiting junior wide receiver Will Fuller's ability to beat them over the top.
