The pick was simple. The buildup
was eventful.
D.J. Morgan's path to Notre Dame
is one that saw its fair share of twists
and turns over the course of the past
few months, but when the Bellflower
(Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star safety
announced his decision to play for the
Irish Sept. 27, the pledge made more
than just sense.
Morgan had always wanted to be at
Notre Dame, but he was just waiting
on a scholarship offer from the Irish.
"I committed to Notre Dame in a
meeting with [head coach] Brian
Kelly," Morgan said Sept. 7 after he
took an official visit for the Texas
game. "I like Notre Dame a lot. Just
being there for a game atmosphere, it
was amazing."
While Morgan, who is ranked as the
No. 22 safety in the country and the
No. 47 prospect in California by Ri-
vals, waited a few weeks to go public
with his decision, there's a reason why
he committed to the Irish on the spot:
He just felt comfortable with the pro-
gram.
"It was very different, like no other
trip before," he said. "The fan base
