first mentality, but to be able to switch it up, I've definitely been focused on doing that in prac- tices but also making the right play as well. "Whether that's to score or whether that's to pass, I still have that in my mind. I know I'll have more of a scoring mentality this coming year, and I just want to do whatever I can do to help the team win." While many Virginia fans might not realize it, Perrantes was a scorer during his prep days at Crespi Carmelite in L.A. He finished as his high school's all-time leader in scoring and as- sists, averaging 19.9 points and 5.8 assists per game as a senior. "Just being able to show I can definitely do both, that's going to be fun, but the bigger thing is that the team keeps on winning," he said. "We're just trying to do what we can to make sure that happens. But it'll definitely be a lot of fun." In his career at UVA, no game encapsulates the scorer that Per- rantes could become more than the 89-80 double-overtime win at Miami in January. That night in Coral Gables, the California native went for a career-high 26 points on 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. "I think we had some foul trouble," he recalled. "I think Malcolm [Brogdon] was in foul trouble and I think A.G. [An- thony Gill] was as well, and I Perrantes ranked fourth in the ACC in assists (4.7 per game) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.0) in 2014-15, while averaging just 5.9 shots and 6.4 points per game.
