Manning the middle is 7-0 fourth-year Mike Tobey. By his side is 6-8 redshirt fourth-year forward Anthony Gill. Tobey has teased Virginia fans with his offen- sive repertoire over his first three seasons. Bennett said the challenge for the big man this season is to become more consistent and stay out of foul trouble. "I think this spring, summer and fall I saw him approach his development — in the weight room, on the court, during workouts — at another level," Bennett said. Bennett thinks Tobey realizes it's his last year and it's now or never. "I'm excited from what I've seen," Bennett said. "He's had a few days in practice that he's been almost unstoppable at times. That encour- aged me because I didn't see that as much over the years … "I'm hopeful for him." Consistency has never been an issue for Gill. Since transferring in from South Carolina after his first-year season, the High Point, N.C., native has been one of Bennett's most steady players. A natural offensive rebounder with an innate abil- ity to get to the free throw line, Gill figures to, once again, be one of the Cavaliers' big offensive weapons. Of course, replacing the two starters lost from last season — Justin Anderson and Darion Atkins — isn't going to be easy. "They brought some things that were special," Bennett said. "They could, defensively, erase mis- takes … "I think it puts a premium on us to try and be sounder and in better position because you know you don't have guys like that."
