Kicker Quinn Nordin of Rockford, Mich., was back in State College last weekend for Penn State's White Out game against Michigan. A three-star prospect, Nordin commit- ted to the Nittany Lions in July but has made a few unofficial visits to Michigan this season. He was in attendance for the Wolverines' 28-16 victory over the Lions on Saturday and made it clear that the re- sult would have very little impact if he were to switch his commitment down the road. "Like every recruit, I just want to make sure I find the best place for me," Nordin said. "I definitely don't want fans to think that the outcome of the game is going to have a big impact on where I end up. Ob- viously, winning and losing is important, but that specific game really doesn't have any impact on me. "I just need to make sure that I go wher- ever fits best for me. I want to go wherever I feel like the coaching staff meshes best with me and my family. Also, academics are very important, so I'm mainly just making sure that everything fits me the best. I think that's what almost all the re- cruits look at. It's not about winning and losing specific games. It's about what schools fit best for you and your family, plus the long-term outlook during my time there." During the past two seasons, Nordin has seen multiple games at Beaver Stadium, including Penn State's victory over Rut- gers earlier this year. However, this was the first time that he was on campus for a White Out. "I've actually never been to a noon kick- off since I always have Friday games," he said. "So we got there in the morning and it was real cool. It was a real fun environ- ment. I had never been to a White Out game, and that was a lot of fun. The envi- ronment in the stadium was awesome. "It was also real good to see all the guys again. I hadn't been up there since the Rutgers game, so it was nice to see all the recruits that I've become friends with, plus the coaches. It was a good time." Referring to the recruits, Nordin went on to add, "I got to chill with a couple of the guys. One of my best friends who's com- mitted to Penn State, Zech McPhearson, he was up there. I haven't seen him in for- ever, so it was good to bust his chops and catch up. Also, some of the linemen, like Connor McGovern, Alex [Gellerstedt], Michal Menet, they're all good friends of mine. I really enjoyed seeing all of those guys. That was definitely one of the high- lights of the trip." Nordin spent the night in State College, which gave him an opportunity to have an extended conversation with head coach James Franklin and multiple assistant coaches Saturday evening. "I met with the staff aBer the game," he said. "We talked for quite a while. I would say that it lasted close to two hours. It was mainly about where they need me, what they plan to do with me, just stuff like that." Nordin plans to go back to Ann Arbor this weekend for Michigan's game against Ohio State. He's currently the top-ranked kicker in the nation and the 27th-ranked prospect overall in Michigan for the Class of 2016. PENN STATE RADIO NETWORK WAEB............. 790-AM.......
