90 ■ THE WOLFPACKER BY MATT CARTER T he 2015 football season for 17 NC State verbal commitments (15 seniors and two juniors) was mostly completed by the time December arrived. Here's a look at how each of them did on the gridiron this year. • Three-star tight end Dylan Auten- rieth did not enjoy much success from a wins-loss standpoint. Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding, ironically also nicknamed the Wolfpack, went just 3-8 and lost in the first round of the AAAAAA state playoffs to Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County. Autenrieth was the team's third-leading receiver with 41 receptions for 407 yards and five touchdowns. He finished his career with 73 catches for 875 yards and 10 scores. He officially visited NCSU the weekend of Dec. 4. In the past, Autenrieth has also played basketball. He averaged 15.0 points and 5.6 rebounds a game as a junior. • Offensive tackle Kollin Byers, who is rated as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com, and Crest High in Boiling Springs, N.C., were enjoying a memorable campaign, win- ning their first 15 games while attempting to defend their 3-A state title. Byers has helped the Chargers average 145.1 rushing yards and 390.2 total yards per game en route to the championship contest against Southern Durham Dec. 12. Byers will make a quick pivot after the playoffs to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game Dec. 19 in Spar- tanburg, S.C. • Three-star athlete Bryce Dixon of Cary (N.C.) Green Hope caught 39 passes for 558 yards and six touchdowns, and rushed 17 times for 107 yards on offense for 7-5 Green Hope, which lost in the first round of the 4-A state playoffs. On defense, he added 53 total stops, 11 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception, one pass broken up and two fumble recoveries. He finished his Green Hope career with 142 receptions for 1,953 yards and 19 touchdowns. Dixon picked up offers from Boise State, Miami, Tennessee and Virginia in Novem- ber, but has maintained he is solid with the Wolfpack. He officially visited NC State Dec. 4. • Alpharetta (Ga.) Chattahoochee High endured a tough season, going 1-9. Two- star offensive lineman Bryce Folsom helped the offense produce good numbers: 140.4 yards rushing and 388.7 total yards per game. • Three-star defensive tackle Ben "Shug" Frazier and the Buford (Ga.) High defense dominated en route to a 13-1 record and the championship game of the AAAA state playoffs Dec. 12. Buford has given up just 7.1 points per game and pitched seven shut- outs this fall. • Three-star offensive guard Harrison Gee still has a lot of football left before he arrives in Raleigh. He will play in the Shrine Bowl and then the Semper Fidelis All-American Game Jan. 3 in Carson, Calif. Before then, he officially visited NC State Dec. 4. Gee helped Williams go 5-7 this year before losing in the first round of the 3-A playoffs at Rocky Mount (N.C.) High. Wil- liams averaged 133.6 yards on the ground and 218.4 total yards per game. Gee had 22 tackles, including three for loss and two sacks, on defense. • Three-star safety Tim Glass played both ways for Danville (Va.) George Washing- ton, which went 10-2 and lost in the second round of the Group 4A state playoffs. Glass intercepted three passes, plus caught 17 passes for 343 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed six times for 15 yards and three scores. Glass officially visited NC State Dec. 4. • Two-star linebacker Garrett Hooker had already established himself as a tackling machine for Thomasville (N.C.) Ledford High prior to his senior season. He made 155 tackles as a freshman, 189 during his sophomore season and 207 when he was a junior. Hooker likely would have continued that trend of bettering his tackles total each sea- son. He had 167 in nine games, an average of 18.6 per contest. However, he had to have surgery on his foot and was forced to miss the final four games of Ledford's season, which ended at 9-4 after a second round loss at Concord (N.C.) High in the 3-AA state playoffs. Hooker, who officially visited NC State Dec. 4, is hoping to get cleared to play in the Shrine Bowl. • Southeast Raleigh High, led by three- star quarterback Dylan Parham, failed to reach the state playoffs after a 4-7 season. Parham completed 143 of 294 passes (48.6 percent) for 2,003 yards with 20 touch- downs and 10 interceptions. He also rushed 73 times for 404 yards and eight scores. In two seasons as the Bulldogs' quarter- back, Parham completed 292 of 590 passes (49.5 percent) for 3,776 yards with 35 touchdowns and 20 picks. He ran 151 times for 794 yards and 15 scores. ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING Wolfpack Commits Shined On The Gridiron This Fall Athlete Bryce Dixon caught 39 passes for 558 yards and six touchdowns on offense, and compiled 53 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks on defense for Cary (N.C.)
