Taking care of the physical needs of University of Virginia
student-athletes is a unique collaborative effort between the
team physicians, medical training staff and coaches.
Dr. Bobby Chhabra is Chair of Orthopedic Surgery for the
UVA Health System. Chhabra also serves as a hand surgery
consultant for the Virginia athletic department and works
closely with the division of sports medicine at UVA.
Chhabra told VirginiaSports.com that collaboration allows
the university "to provide the highest level of care possible
for our athletes so they can perform at their best. If they
are injured they receive the appropriate treatment and
rehabilitation to return as fast as possible to their sport but
as safely as possible."
At UVA, the physician staff has fostered a strong working
relationship with the training staff under the direction of
Ethan Saliba. He is in his 33rd year on staff at Virginia and
