2016 RECRUITING ISSUE BY LOU SOMOGYI Had Josh Adams not set the Notre Dame freshman single-season rushing record (835 yards) this past season, he might feel out of place. The Pennsyl- vania standout is a lone ranger in a vir- tually All-Florida backfield, headlined by assistant coach and Lauderhill na- tive Autry Denson, the all-time rushing leader for the Fighting Irish when he played from 1995-98. Senior Tarean Folston (Cocoa), the top rusher in 2014 before a knee injury put him out of commission in 2015; sopho- more Dexter Williams (Winter Garden); and the incoming duo of McIntosh (Fort Lauderdale) and Tony Jones Jr. (Braden- ton) are all from the Sunshine State. South Bend won't be mistaken for South Beach, but a comfort level has developed among all backs with the paternal Denson. "He's also from here — he's been there, done that," McIntosh said of Denson. "It was great to know he played there and succeeded, and es- pecially had a great experience while getting that degree. He can show the way because he's already been through it." The easy decision would have been to remain in South Florida, especially because older brother Richard (R.J.) played last season at defensive end for the Miami Hurricanes.
