2016 RECRUITING ISSUE Deon was a regular at the Miami cam- pus, including taking an unofficial visit there the week after he was on his of- ficial trip to Notre Dame for the 41-31 win versus USC Oct. 17. Yet he opted for the road less traveled. "It was hard not to go to Miami," Mc- Intosh admitted. "We had talked about playing together in college, too. But I just found Notre Dame to be the right fit in what I wanted." There was another temptation for Mc- Intosh when his Cardinal Gibbons team suffered massive attrition along the of- fensive line and quarterback, helping lead to a difficult 4-6 senior campaign in the ultra-competitive Broward County area. "It got me to thinking about leav- ing," McIntosh said. "It was a tough season, but it also taught me to be a better leader and how to work harder and get better." "He was a marked man this season when we had a really inexperience line," Cardinal Gibbons head coach Mike Morrill said. "But he was a tough kid, never got hurt and kept working hard." With his size, frame and especially exceptional hands, McIntosh fits the skill sets demanded as a hybrid run- ning back/slot receiver in Notre Dame's spread scheme, similar to the recently graduated Amir Carlisle and current speedster and rising sophomore CJ Sanders. With McIntosh, though, he is a running back first, even though his receiving skills have been lauded. Geographically, McIntosh would ap- pear to be in the right place and position as well. ✦
