UNDER THE DOME Corey Robinson Runs For Student Body President It's no secret that junior wide re- ceiver Corey Robinson has plenty of interests in addition to football. The most recent is running for Notre Dame student body president. Robinson said he would still par- ticipate in his senior season of foot- ball if elected. "In the fall, we practice from 2:30 to 7 [including meetings, tape re- view, getting equipped for practice], so anything between those hours, I can't participate in, but the rest of the day, I'm free," he told Notre Dame's student newspaper, The Observer. "I'm going to have three or four classes … and the way my sched- ule works, only football and student body, so that way, I'll be able to be fully invested in both, in those two aspects." Robinson, a 2013 early enrollee and major in the program of liberal studies with a sustainability minor, has been very involved in student government throughout his time at Notre Dame. Coincidentally, freshman defen- sive lineman Jerry Tillery is serving as the campaign manager of another ticket hoping to gain election. On Jan. 29, Robinson penned a col- umn for Sports Illustrated about his One Shirt One Body initiative, which donates athletic apparel to local com- munities. "The idea started by accident last May," Robinson wrote. "My Notre Dame football teammate Cole Luke had some extra Under Armour cleats and didn't know what to do with them. So his roommate, An- drew Helmin, offered to take them back home to Frankfort, Ill., and give them to the kids in the neigh- borhood. Not surprisingly, the kids were overwhelmed with excitement at the chance to wear the game-used cleats of one of Notre Dame's start- ing cornerbacks. "Like a sudden light illuminating a dark room, an idea emerged. What if more student-athletes gave their extra gear and clothing to those in need?" According to Robinson, One Shirt One Body has donated approxi- mately 3,000 shirts since November. — Andrew Owens Robinson has been involved in student govern- ment throughout his time at Notre Dame.
