5 Notre Dame men's basketball players who finished with a double‑digit scoring average this season: Jackson (15.8), se‑ nior forward Zach Auguste (14.0), Beachem (12.0), junior guard Steve Vasturia (11.4) and sophomore forward Bonzie Colson (11.1). The only other Fighting Irish team to achieve that was the 1976‑77 edition that finished 22‑7 and No. 10 in the Associ‑ ated Press rankings. That quintet featured Don "Duck" Williams (18.1), Toby Knight (15.2), Dave Batton (12.2), Bruce Flowers (11.3) and Rich Branning (10.7). Remarkably, that team almost had a sixth with sixth man Bill Paterno (9.6). 17 Final ranking of Notre Dame men's basketball in the USA Today/coaches poll with its Elite Eight showing in the NCAA Tournament (the Associated Press final poll is at the end of the regular season). With its No. 5 finish last year, head coach Mike Brey's Irish are the first ND squad to finish in the final poll in consecutive years since 1985‑86 and 1986‑87, led by guard David Rivers. 22 Years since Notre Dame last had 10 players selected in an NFL Draft. That 1994 group included first‑round se‑ lections Bryant Young, Aaron Taylor and Jeff Burris. The Fighting Irish had 10 players invited to the NFL Combine this year, second only to Ohio State's 14, and that's not even including a possible draft prospect in defensive back Matthias Farley. The NFL Draft will be held April 28‑30 in Chicago. 48 Hours from March 19‑21 that Notre Dame picked up five verbal commitments in football for the 2017 recruiting class. On the Saturday, March 19 junior day at the school it be‑ gan with quarterback Avery Davis from Cedar Hill (Texas) High, followed by Pittsburgh Central Catholic linebacker David Adams. Then on March 21, Adams' teammate, defensive tackle Kurt Hin‑ ish, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.)
