most among any returning player,
early enrollee freshman Devin Stud-
still took most of the reps with the ones
instead of Redfield. VanGorder said
it's not about sending a message to
Redfield.
"I saw him in high school, and he's
just so naturally instinctive," Van-
Gorder said of Studstill. "Usually those
kind of guys end up being good learn-
ers. He's real natural in the game and
has a great feel."
Other News: Although he is com-
ing off two ACL surgeries in as many
seasons, junior Drue Tranquill is the
"floater" on defense who will be uti-
lized in a number of capacities. He is at
his best in the box, which is why Craw-
ford's coverage skills in sub packages
are so vital.
Summary: Question marks remain
abundant at a position that has been
under a lot of fire during VanGorder's
first two seasons. How much it changes
can only be answered once the games
actually are played. ✦
Coming off an impressive spring, junior Mike linebacker Nyles Morgan is poised to be the front seven's
top tackler this fall.
