to schools, they are guys who have
started since they were sophomores.
Davis didn't have that chance. This
past season was his first season start-
ing for us because of the guy that
was in front of him. He played as a
sophomore and helped us win a state
title, but he didn't get his chance until
now.
"I think he's as good as any quar-
terback in the nation and he's only
going to continue to prove that."
Sanford, who recruits Texas for
the Irish, offered Davis during Notre
Dame's bye week this past season. Mc-

to see a couple of throws and take a
quick glance at the transcript before
deciding that Davis was the type of
kid that he wanted in South Bend.

FILM ANALYSIS
Strengths
A pass-first quarterback that is a dynamic
runner, making him perfect for the Irish of-
fense … Has a quick release and the arm
strength to make all the throws Notre Dame
needs … His quickness and elusiveness in the
pocket is outstanding … Is a threat to score
every time he tucks the ball and takes off.
Areas For Improvement
At just 5-11 and 188 pounds, lacks ideal
size and his ability to hold up to the pounding
quarterbacks take is a question mark … Has an
inconsistent release and tends to short arm
or rush throws, which decreases his accuracy
… Also has a bad habit of throwing off his
back foot and not using his core to get more
power on throws … Once that improves, his
arm strength will take off.
