FOOTBALL RECRUITING him to recruit hard this summer. Blue & Gold Illustrated takes a look at the names on the board. WYATT DAVIS BELLFLOWER (CALIF.) ST. JOHN BOSCO RANKINGS: Pegged by Rivals as a five-star pros- pect, the No. 3 recruit in Califor- nia, and the nation's No. 1 of- fensive guard and No. 19 overall prospect. CONTENDERS: Alabama, Cali- fornia, Oklahoma, Stanford, Ten- nessee, USC, UCLA, Washington, Michigan and Nebraska. THE LATEST: Notre Dame offered Davis last June, and he said right away that the plan was to get to South Bend for a visit. While that trip has yet to come to fruition, the Irish made the initial cut for Davis in early April, which came after unofficial visits to Alabama, Washington, Stanford and USC. He continues to state that the plan is to see Notre Dame at some point, and that trip could come as early as June with his parents. Stanford and Washington appear to be the early favorites, although a decision isn't expected to come until official visits are made. "I'm mostly looking at the degree and what that can bring me," the 6-3, 328-pound Davis told Rivals in March. "I'm also looking at the majors that they have and if they will have the major that I want to pursue, which is broadcasting and communications." ROBERT HAINSEY BRADENTON (FLA.) IMG ACADEMY RANKINGS: Listed by Rivals as a four-star pros- pect, the No. 13 player in Florida, and the No. 8 offensive tackle and No. 56 overall recruit in the country. CONTENDERS: Ohio State, Penn State, Pitts- burgh, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Florida and Miami. THE LATEST: Hainsey was of- fered by Notre Dame March 22 while on campus for an unoffi- cial visit. While he's considered a target for Hiestand and the Irish, he's viewed as the biggest long shot on the board to eventually end up in South Bend, given the fact that Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State have long been in the mix for the Pittsburgh native. "I'll probably end up taking all of my five official visits and then go from there," the 6-5, 276-pound Hainsey said in late March. "My schedule for of- ficials is going to be tight because I'm graduating early. "Notre Dame was nice — I liked it up there," he added. "It's a smaller town and campus, less students, but everything was beautiful. I liked the coaching staff a lot. All of the players say that Coach Hiestand is the best offensive line coach in the country, and he's got the records to back it up." FOSTER SARELL GRAHAM (WASH.) GRAHAM-KAPOWSIN RANKINGS: Rated by Rivals as a four-star re- cruit, the top prospect in Wash- ington, and the No. 6 offensive tackle and No. 26 overall player nationally. C O N T E N D E R S : S t a n fo r d , Washington, Oregon and USC. THE LATEST: Sarell is a recruit that hasn't had his name linked much to Notre Dame, but that will change this summer when he makes his way to South Bend for an unofficial visit. The 6-6, 315-pound tackle is scheduled to be in town the weekend of June 4, and while that might spell good news for the Irish it looks as if Stanford and Washington are the early teams to beat. Sarell was in Palo Alto, Calif., in March for a Ju-
