FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Richland four-star quarterback Phil Jurkovec an early priority for the Irish, and the Rivals100 prospect said that he has plenty of interest in Notre Dame after a pair of unofficial visits. "I have continued to talk with Coach Sanford," Jurkovec said in early April after visiting South Bend in March. "I'm hoping to get back there soon. I can't make it up for the spring game, but my team is going up there in June for a camp. I know I'll be there for sure then. Hopefully I'll get up there before that. "I'm talking to him probably once a week," he added. "It's good. We just talk a lot. I really like Coach Sanford. I think he's got a lot of energy, I think he's a good coach and I think he can develop quarter- backs." The 6-5, 190-pound Jurkovec was offered by Sanford Nov. 1. He has since picked up offers from Ala- bama, Ohio State, Tennessee and Virginia, but continues to list Notre Dame as one of his top schools along with Penn State and Pittsburgh. • The visitors list for Notre Dame's premier summer recruiting event is beginning to take shape. The annual Irish Invasion will be held in late June, and a number of prospects are already making plans to be on campus. Chicago Mt. Carmel 2018 Rivals100 athlete Houston Griffith is expected to compete at the one-night invite-only camp for the second year in a row after landing an offer from the Irish March 23. He'll be joined on the field by Barrington (Ill.) High three-star defensive end Jackson Perkins and Elkhart (Ind.) Concord three-star safety Cedric Mitchell, who both will work out in hopes of landing offers from the Irish. Atlanta Pace Academy four-star wide receiver Trey Blount is expected to also return to South Bend after visiting for a Junior Day, while Virginia Beach (Va.) Cox four-star defensive end Jordan Williams will likely make his first recruiting trip to the Midwest to see the Irish. — Andrew Ivins RIVALS 2017 TEAM RECRUITING RANKINGS As of April 18 1.
