UNDER THE DOME 2 This year, Notre Dame tied for second all time in its history with six players selected in the first three rounds. The most was seven in 1994, but the 1967 and 1993 NFL Drafts also had six apiece, with the former coming after a national title in 1966 and the latter after a 10-1-1 and No. 4 placement in 1992. All seven of Notre Dame's selections this year came among the top 103 picks (or early fourth round), starting with left tackle Ronnie Stanley (No. 6 overall, Baltimore) and concluding with defensive lineman Sheldon Day (No. 103, Jacksonville). Having seven Fighting Irish selections among the top 103 hasn't occurred since 1994: defensive lineman Bryant Young (No. 7), offensive guard Aaron Taylor (No. 16), defensive back Jeff Burris (No. 27), center Tim Ruddy (No. 65), defensive tackle Jim Flanigan (No. 74), cornerback Willie Clark (No. 82) and wide receiver Lake Dawson (No. 92). 4 Gold medals won by 5-11, 175-pound incoming Notre Dame freshman cornerback Troy Pride Jr. at the South Carolina Class AAA State Track & Field Championships May 14. The Greer High School product won the state titles in the 100-meter dash (10.55), 200-meter dash (21.28) and 400-meter race (48.28), plus ran a leg for the 4x100 relay team that also captured the championship. It might have been the greatest individual performance by a Notre Dame recruit since 1982 Parade Player of the Year Alvin Miller won four individual titles at the 1983 Missouri state meet. 6 Points Notre Dame is favored by over Texas by Las Vegas' 5Dimes for the Sept. 4 opener in Austin. In a colossal first week of college football, Alabama also is a 13-point favorite over USC, Clemson 9.5 over Auburn, LSU 8.5 against Wisconsin, Oklahoma 7.5 versus Houston and Georgia 4.5 against North Carolina. 10 First-round picks from Notre Dame since 1995 — with six of them coming in the last five seasons under head coach Brian Kelly: left tackle Ronnie Stanley and wide receiver Will Fuller this spring, offensive lineman Zack Martin in 2014, tight end Tyler Eifert in 2013, and wide receiver Michael Floyd and safety Harrison Smith in 2012. Notre Dame had only four players selected in the first round in the previous 17 drafts from 1995-2011.
