AROUND THE GROUNDS 2 Former Cavalier lacrosse stars were selected in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Draft — 2015 graduates Morgan Stephens (No. 21 overall) and Courtney Swan (No. 25). Both were selected by the Baltimore Ride. 3 Goals scored in six games at the 2016 Junior Pan American Championship by rising third- year field hockey midfielder Tara Vittese. The 2015 National Player of the Year helped the U.S. to a sec- ond-place finish, which qualified them for the 2016 Junior World Cup Nov. 23-Dec. 4 in Santiago, Chile. 7 Straight ACC Rowing Championships have been won by Virginia, which finished first in all five races May 14. The UVA varsity eight was named ACC Crew of the Year, and the Cavaliers were one of 22 schools selected to compete in the 2016 NCAA Rowing Championship May 27-29 in Gold River, Calif. 8 UVA teams — men's and women's cross country, men's tennis, men's track, wrestling, softball, women's golf and volleyball — earned Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for having Academic Prog- ress Rates (APR) in the top 10 percent of their sport nationally for the four-year period ending with 2014-15. 12 Straight years that the UVA men's tennis team has reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tourna- ment. The No. 1 Cavs cruised by Monmouth (4-0), Penn State (4-1) and Oklahoma State (4-2) to get there, and then completed their national title defense with victories versus Florida (4-0), California (4-0) and Oklahoma (4-1).
