sports programs will have
its ebbs and flows. In the 12
months from August 2015 through
July 2016, here were some of the top
memories, listed chronologically.
M*A*S*H RERUNS
Injuries are an inevitable aspect
in the violent world of football,
but in a one-month period from
Aug. 14 through the second game
Sept. 12, it took on almost ridicu-
lous proportions.
By the start of the third game,
Notre Dame had lost its starting quar-
terback (Malik Zaire), starting run-
ning back (Tarean Folston), starting
tight end (Durham Smythe), starting
nose guard (Jarron Jones) and start-
ing nickel back (Shaun Crawford) to
season-ending surgeries.
By halftime of the third game, top
safety Drue Tranquill also was ruled
out after tearing an ACL doing a
chest-bump celebration, and a week
later Corey Robinson (whose football

Prior to the 2015 football season, quarterback
Malik Zaire (pictured) was considered one of the
players Notre Dame could least afford to lose to
an injury. Yet when Zaire was sidelined the final
11 games, DeShone Kizer thrived in his place.
The quality depth was a theme during a 10-3
campaign.
