Saquon Barkley's fourth-quarter TD burst helps PSU top Temple
Never count out Saquon Barkley. If there was a
takeaway from Penn State's 34-27 victory over vis-
iting Temple, that was it.
The sophomore running back missed nearly the
entire first half of the game with an apparent leg
injury, and he didn't do much when he returned,
finding little running room against an Owls de-
fense that was determined to stop him.
But with the Nittany Lions clinging to a three-
point lead in the fourth quarter, Barkley delivered
the knockout blow, running 55 yards up the middle
for a touchdown and a bit of breathing room.
"Saquon has the ability, if we can create a little bit
of space, to break tackles, to make people miss,"
coach James Franklin said. "And he has the ability,
with his speed, to finish runs."
He did all of the above on the run in question,
stepping through an attempted ankle tackle, then
sprinting into the end zone to give the Lions a 34-
24 lead with 7 minutes, 20 seconds to play.
