WAYNE CRAWFORD Lineman High School/Hometown: Chestnut Hill Academy/ Philadelphia Rivals.com Ranking: Two stars NC State Recruiter: Former running backs coach Jason Swepson Career Summary: Crawford was one of two players in this class that verbally committed to Boston College and then decided to join the staff at NC State rather than remain an Eagles commitment. Crawford was recruited to play defensive tackle, and after redshirting in 2007 that's where he spent his red- shirt freshman season, playing sparingly in six games and assisting on one tackle for a loss. The following spring, Crawford was moved to the interior offensive line, playing as a seldom-used reserve center and guard for the next two years. Crawford's senior season saw him play both ways due seeing the field for 268 snaps. Defensively, he notched nine tackles, including four solo hits and 1.5 tackles for loss. have been minimal, but off the field he set the example of what a student-athlete at NC State should be, and for that he was a success story. champions on the field, in the classroom and in the com- munity. Crawford shined especially in the latter two. He graduated in four years and is working on his master's, and he was the president of the NC State chapter of Uplifting Athletes. The organization raises money for research for rare diseases, and Crawford's work in establishing the State chapter made him a finalist for the 2012 Rare Disease Champion Award. Golder missed spring drills in 2008, and he then received a medical hardship and gave up football.
