Pope John XXIII * As of Sept. 18 2017 HOT LIST * past two years, with two of those visits taking place this past summer. And he knows all about the game day atmos- phere, having attended multiple games in Beaver Stadium throughout his youth. Houston was in the crowd again, this time as a recruit, when Penn State opened its 2016 season against Kent State. "I had a lot of fun," he said. "I got to see a lot of di1erent things at the sta- dium. When I 0rst got there, I was able to eat and hang out in their [recruiting lounge]. I then got to go down to the 0eld before the game. I got to see the players warming up, so I was just walk- ing up and down the sidelines to see their pregame routine. I actually got to walk to the middle of the 0eld before the game to talk to Coach Franklin for a little bit. That was real cool." Another running back to remember is Devyn Ford from Sta1ord, Va. Of the nine sophomores who hold Penn State o1ers, Ford is the most coveted so far, with close to two dozen o1ers, many of which are from the nation's best: Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State, to name a few. Ford vis- ited Penn State last season for the game against Michigan and is expected to re- turn sometime this year. On the other side of the ball, Penn State has already made it clear that de- fensive end will be a position of need, and it has extended three scholarship offers. Of those three players, Antonio Alfano of Bergen Catholic High in Oradell, N.J., appears to be the most interested. Alfano has visited Penn State four times since last season, most recently for its Friday Night Whiteout camp in July. That's the same day that he earned an o1er from the sta1. "I feel like Coach Franklin is a real nice guy," Alfano said. "He's young and easy to relate with. I feel comfortable with him. We always laugh a lot together. He's fun. I also like Coach [Sean] Spencer, es- pecially his energy. He's always an up- beat guy and trying to have fun, but when it's time to get down to business, he's a real good coach. He's already taught me di1erent moves when it comes to pass rushing." ■
