lone post player in the starting lineup after
netting 9.4 points and 6.9 boards per game,
while tallying 33 assists, 52 steals and 24
blocked shots in 2015-16.
Mason split time at point guard last sea-
son, taking over those primary responsibili-
ties during the Cavaliers' postseason run.
Huland El who moved into the starting
lineup late last season and is expected to
be a leader and a scorer this fall, says she
understands the expectations of being a full-
time starter.
"It means I've got to keep myself tight and
be on point," she said. "I've got to be execut-
ing, and I've got to be disciplined. But I also
have to hold my teammates accountable."
Scoring is not something Huland El is
unaccustomed to doing. A record-setting
guard from Randolph (N.J.) High, she set
the Morris County all-time scoring record
filling the rims with 2,286 points while av-
eraging 21.2 per game.
Boyle and her Cavaliers were also pre-
dicted to finish 10th in the ACC in the of-
ficial 2016-17 Blue Ribbon Panel preseason
poll. Huland El said while the Wahoos want
to be more highly regarded, loftier expecta-
tions must be earned.
"You don't know until you get in there and they start play-
ing and you see how they handle that when the lights are
on. But I will tell you in the time that we've had with them
and the scrimmages, they hold their own."
