The NBA CARIS LEVERT STARTING TO ROUND INTO FORM Fully recovered from a foot injury that cost him almost all of his junior and senior seasons at Michigan, Ca- ris LeVert was finally cleared to play Dec. 5 for the Brooklyn Nets, the team that drafted him 20th overall. He's slowly rounding into the form that made him an elite college player … when healthy. "I'm similar to you guys — I'm learning about him," Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson told report- ers Jan. 13. "I watched a lot of film in college of him, but this is a different deal. I'm starting to just feel out who he is as a player. Trey Burke • NBA The fourth-year pro scored a season-high 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting, including making all five of his triples, in Washington's 118-95 win over Brooklyn Dec. 30. Max Pacioretty • NHL The Montreal Canadiens left winger scored his 20th goal of the season in a Jan. 14 win over the Rangers and is now second in the NHL in game-winning goals with six. Rich Hill • MLB The former U-M standout signed a new three-year, $48-million contract in December to stay with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hill notched a 2.12 ERA in 20 starts with the club last year. HEADLINERS Former Michigan athletes in the news this month Veteran David Harris did miss a game for the first time in eight seasons, but he still racked up 95 tackles to lead the Jets in stops for the seventh time in the past eight campaigns.
