Annual operational budget support for each of the University's 13 women's and 12 men's sports is provided through a combination of athletics department funds and donor contributions. is includes but is not limited to recruiting costs, team travel and equipment. OPERATIONAL BUDGET SUPPORT Friends Of Donations STEVE PRITZKER S teve Pritzker serves as the chief financial officer of the athletics department and associate head coach of the rowing team. As CFO and se- nior associate athletics director for business operations, he is respon- sible for overseeing the operational budget of the athletics department including the VAF Friends Of op- erational support allocated for team travel, recruiting and equipment expenses. Steve explained that VAF donor support through Friends Of con- tributions directly impacts the Uni- versity's Olympic sports teams. is operational support relieves pres- sure on the athletics department's annual budget, making it possible to provide what coaches feel is nec- essary to compete for NCAA cham- pionships. For example, operation- al support allows teams such as soball to maintain a competitive schedule by traveling to the West Coast each season. In the colder months, rowing has the opportu- nity to travel to Florida for outdoor training and competition. Friends Of contributions help Vir- ginia student-athletes and coaches be in a position to pursue Un- compromised Excellence both in competition and in the classroom. Friends Of donations provide valuable oper- ational support to UVA's sports programs on an annual basis." "
