NEWS & NOTES 2015 and 2016 conference schedules, both of which feature the return of the Spartans to Penn State's slate. The Nittany Lions played them each season from 1993 to 2010 and hold a 14-13-1 edge in the all-time series. In addition, Iowa resumes its series with Penn State after rotating off in 2013 and '14. The Hawkeyes travel to Beaver Stadium (Nov. 7), while Penn State also hosts Illinois (Oct. 3), Purdue (Oct. 24) and Nebraska (Nov. 21). The 2016 schedule features what is likely to be an even more attractive home slate for the Nittany Lions. In addition to taking on the Spartans at home Nov. 12, Penn State also hosts Indiana (Oct. 15), Ohio State (Oct. 29) and Wisconsin (Nov. 26). The Badgers and Lions are meeting in the final regular-season game every year from 2012 until at least 2016. With schedules beyond 2017 already filling up, Penn State coach Bill O'Brien said recently that continuing the in- state rivalry with Pittsburgh could prove difficult. But he said he would like for it to happen. "I would love to see that game played on an annual basis," O'Brien told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for [Pitt coach] Paul Chryst and their program, and that's a great rivalry. For the fans of Pennsylvania to be able to see that game every year, I think that's pretty neat."
