BASKETBALL RECRUITING The 6-6, 200-pound Edwards isn't the biggest, strongest or most athletic player, but he's unbelievably pro- ductive all across the board, Gold- andBlack.com reports. They call him the closest thing to former Purdue great Robbie Hummel since the real thing, skills-wise. "He looks just as natural posting Vince Edwards, SF, Middletown, Ohio: up down low as he does shooting the ball from long range or dribbling the ball up the court and facilitating for others. He's as likely to score one- on-one with his back to the rim as he is facing the basket in space and tak- ing his defender off the dribble," the website noted recently. Though not the quickest defender, Georgetown, Washington, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Baylor, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Texas, among oth- ers, and recently said Michigan was also on his list. He could secure a U-M offer with a visit, but he cur- rently has no plans to see the campus. Jackson remains interested in all schools recruiting him, and he re- cently picked up an offer from North Carolina. "I'm still wide open. Any school that's recruiting me, I'm interested in them," he said. "I'll start narrowing my list down sometime next year, and make my decision sometime my senior year of high school. "I check in with the coaches and Edwards — Rivals.com's No. 59 player nationally — rebounds and blocks shots, and plays with a high motor. Purdue seems to be the heavy fa- vorite here, with head coach Matt Painter having followed him much of the summer in making him a priority. There was even one report that sug- gested Edwards might be ready to commit at the beginning of summer.
