College & Cato 814.861.3463 gigisdining.com has a lot of talent, Juwan [Johnson] and Irv [Charles] and some of the younger guys, too, so you're talking six-, seven-, eight-deep. At any point in the game, you can put them out there and expect a high level of production. Josh [Gattis] does a great job with them. I think, much like the other guys, they're hungry to take the next step. BWI Is Saeed ready to take that next step? MOORHEAD You saw glimpses of it last year, certainly in the Big Ten Champi- onship Game and then at other points during the season. … He wasn't a starter in a full-time capacity for the entirety of the season, but in terms of physical tools, speed, route-running ability, hands and the ability to create explosive plays, he's certainly a guy who is poised for a breakout season. We just need to keep him healthy and keep him working, which he does. He's got a fantastic work ethic. Of all the receivers, he's a guy who you don't want to say he's due or he's on deck, but you just kind of have that feel- ing that he's ready to go. BWI There are still decisions to be made on the offensive line. Do you feel confident regardless of how the starters shake out? MOORHEAD Coach Limegrover is doing a fantastic job with the guys. But we're 10-, 12-deep of true quality Big Ten of- fensive linemen. You look at the old Penn State teams, and to me, the mentality of great teams is dictated by their offensive and defensive lines, and I think we're get- ting back to that point. … I think we did a fantastic job last year, but now you're looking at true position battles at certain spots where one guy is not winning the job by default, where it's earned and the guys behind him are pushing him. I think that what's great about our depth overall is that competition makes everybody better, so every day that Trace walks into the meeting room, he knows that he's got Tommy [Stevens] and a bunch of other guys behind him who are pushing him, and I think that's probably even more visible in the offen- sive line room. We've infused a lot of young talent into that position group over the past few years. Even these young guys coming in, they're going to make everybody better. BWI Do you have any concern about inexperience? MOORHEAD Nah. None. We're going to put the best on the field who give us a chance to be successful. If it's a redshirt senior, if it's a true freshman, so be it. And I think that's part of the awareness when you come to a program that is Big Ten champion and we're No. 5 or 7 in the country. There are going to be position battles, and the cream will rise to the top. That's what makes it exciting, that there's no entitlement, there are no handouts. You're going to go out there and you're going to win the job based on your body of work. I think that's pretty cool. ■ MOORHEAD CONTINUED FROM PAGE 35
