A 6-foot-0, 160-pound cornerback in the Class of 2019, Ellis was already familiar with both the football program and uni- versity, having visited on multiple occa- sions this spring and summer. However, his visit last Thursday was his first oppor- tunity to have a personal day with the staff. "I had a lot of one-on-one time with Coach Terry [Smith] and Coach [Brent] Pry," Ellis said. "Coach Franklin also gave me his presentation, which was nice. I learned a lot. We also went through the fa- cilities and drove around campus for a bit. It was a little bit of everything and it was just me, so it was good." A three-star prospect, Ellis said he hit on a variety of topics during his discussions with Smith and Pry. There were a few points that he took away from those talks, but the main thing that caught his atten- tion was how much of a priority he is for the Nittany Lions. "They really want me here," Ellis said. "They made it clear that I'm one of their top guys, which is really exciting for me. It's nice knowing that I'm high on their list as a recruit. But they were just saying that they were happy to have me up, things like that." Ellis was also impressed that Franklin himself gave the presentation and not one of the recruiting assistants, as is oDen the case at other schools. "I learned a lot of different facts, espe- cially academically. Things like graduation rates and different stuff like that," he said. "[Franklin] was also showing me clips of the atmosphere in the stadium. I always get chills when I see that stuff and think about it. It's crazy." Ellis took his first true unofficial visit in April for the Blue-White Game. He also camped at Penn State twice this summer and attended the Lasch Bash barbecue. –RYAN SNYDER
