Plans to reschedule the visit have not been locked down. Getting Salyer back to South Bend on an official visit is key for the Irish in their pursuit of Rivals' No. 1 offensive guard and No. 10 overall player na- tionally. Georgia and Clemson are the perceived leaders for the talented lineman, with programs such as Ohio State and Stanford also in the mix. • The Irish made a lot of moves with the current seniors who were in South Bend for the Georgia game, but also impressed some of the 2019 con- tingent in town, including Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Siegel four-star defensive end Joseph Anderson. It was the 6-4, 265-pounder's second trip to Notre Dame this year, with the first coming in April for the program's Sopho- more Day. Anderson came away impressed with the Irish after seeing Mike Elko's de- fense and Mike Elston's defen- sive line in person. He told Blue & Gold Illus- trated following the visit he could see himself fitting in with the Irish on the field. An- derson's parents also enjoyed the trip and the opportunities Notre Dame presents their son. The Irish may be the team to beat for Anderson moving forward. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee are among the other offers for Rivals' No. 7 defensive tackle and No. 127 overall player nationally. The Irish like Anderson at de- fensive end. • Notre Dame is still looking to round out its 2018 offensive line class, which currently includes Brentwood (Tenn.) High tackle Cole Mabry and Maria Stein (Ohio) Marion Local tackle John Dirksen. Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive guard Chris Murray landed an Irish offer Aug. 7 and expressed interest to visit. The 6-3, 290-pounder told Rivals West recruiting analyst Adam Gorney he is planning to take an official visit to South Bend later this fall, though no date is set. Utah and Stanford are also in line to get officials from the Rivals four-star recruit, who is ranked as the No. 17 offensive guard nationally. • It's a couple weeks ahead, but Notre Dame is expecting to host one of its top 2019 defensive back targets for the Miami (Ohio) game Sept. 30. Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal safety Litchfield Ajavon visited Notre Dame in June and plans to return when the Irish welcome the RedHawks to South Bend. The 6-0, 185-pounder connected well with the Irish staff, including linebackers coach Clark Lea and defensive backs coach Todd Lyght. Ajavon is high on the Irish and his fit on and off the field at Notre Dame. Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin are among the early offers for Ajavon, who Rivals ranks as a three-star prospect and the No. 21 safety in the country. — Corey Bodden and David McKinney Follow @BGI_CoreyBodden and @BGI_DMcKinney on Twitter for daily recruiting updates available on BlueandGold.com!
